The Explorer series

The EXPLORER 18 and 20 from Solo Skiffs !

The Explorer series is not your ordinary boats, and like the Solo Skiff dare to be different. The Explorer is our answer to a larger Solo Skiff.

The original Solo Skiff didn’t just sell, and sell well — it changed the kayak industry. After it took off, everyone started putting motors on kayaks. It totally changed the game.
For years, people have asked us to build a larger two-man version. And while the original Solo Skiff exploded in popularity because of its platform design and layout, we never felt a two-man version was realistic in rotomolded plastic. It is something Tom the founder, believed, t — so never made it.
Now here we are….
The EXPLORER series is not for everyone — just like the Solo Skiff isn’t. However the people who understand the Solo Skiffs benefits are the ones who buy them, use them, and swear by them. We believe the same will be true for the new Explorer series.
Over the years, we have heard a lot of stories from Solo Skiff owners — stories that say more than any spec sheet ever could. One guy in Destin Florida talked about he getting caught in some nasty waters. He said, “Waves were coming over the bow-the entire boat was going under water, thru the waves” – he had only a 2.5hp motor fighting the current, and said he wasn’t even worried and said,
“I gained so much respect for the design after this.”

That kind of trust in a design-is what drove the creation of this new boat based on the same platform. The Solo Skiff Explorer is built on the same core mindset: rugged, stable, and no way to swamp the boat. It’s an 18-foot, no-nonsense workhorse — a serious fishing platform that’s built to take it.
There will be a list of custom features that can be added. For example — the first customer wants to pole the skiff alone and asked for a forward ballast tank to float level. That’s the kind of personalization this boat allows.
At the time of this post, a full package — boat, motor, and trailer — starts at $30,000. If your seriously interested and want to get detailed info call or message me…but only if your serious please.
Yes, that’s a big jump from the $2,500 roto-molded Solo — but it has to be. The aluminum alone costs more than a Solo retails for. This boat isn’t competing with plastic kayaks. It’s for the guys who wanted more.
And just like the original, we wanted it RUGGED. So we chose aluminum. The boat will be custom built to order and aluminum not only makes it rugged, it offers the ability to do a lot of custom things.
The Explorer isn’t for everyone. It’s for the guys who get it.
If you would like to get in line to get one, feel free to drop us an email.

Thank you
