The best answer is - a Solo Skiff can be used anywhere it can safely float. Safety should ALWAYS be your #1 priority. There are people using Solo Skiffs all across the world in reservoirs, lakes, and oceans from the Pacific to Atlantic. It is all about the CONDITIONS. Always choose a day to venture out when waters are calm. Yes we see that people do head out in rougher waters but we do not suggest ever. Always take the time in advance to see what the conditions are or will be ahead of your trip. Look at NOAA forecast or use various weather/ sea condition mobile apps like Time To Go . Always use smart judgement - if in doubt- do not go out. If your not sure- do not go !

No we do not have a trailer we make or sell- there are lots out there from many different makes.

Different motors have different measurements so each fits different. We suggest the Tohatsu, Mercury. Tohatsu makes both these motors and the fit the boat best and allow greatest turn radius. Always use short shaft motors only- long shaft motors do not work on a Solo Skiff. Suzuki Yamaha and Honda fit the boat with the Honda having less turn radius but there are people using them that repost they like.

Yes, we can ship you a Solo Skiff if you are not near a dealer. You must be at least 250 miles from any dealer but we will gladly ship too you !!   Please email us if this is the case with your address, and phone number. We will send invoice and get you a Solo Skiff on the way !!!

If you have a pickup truck, using a bed extender as seen in our video can be the easiest way to transport a Solo Skiff. There is a blog post about this topic as well in the blog section as well as video on our site. Many people use trailers as well- It is simple personal preference.

Mr Clean Magic Eraser- The Bath model... NOTHING better- simply dampen and scrub- available at most retail stores that sell kitchen cleaning supplies.

The outboard should rest on top of the transom as designed. Lifting the motor increases the lever arm or torque against the transom and causes excess stress on the transom and is NOT recommended and WILL VOID YOUR WARRANTY.

There is no fuel tank on a Solo Skiff- small outboards have small 3 gallon plastic external tanks (included when purchased) you can use with them- see various makers websites for specifications. The fuel tank is built into some models. We suggest an external tank.

Drilling hole(s) through the transom is NOT recommended and will void your warranty.

The cooler drains through the bottom of the hull to allow cleaning. A standard 1" hull plug seals to keep out water. See picture in the gallery.

Yes- There are kits available from Swamp Runner and others.

The built in cooler tapers forward and is aprox 4 gallons. Large enough to hold more than a dozen bottles of drinking water ice and lunch. Aprox dimentions are 10" deep, 22" long...see pictures, it is tapered

The Solo Skiff uses a short shaft motor. You cannot use any long shaft motors.  Most shorts shafts are spec at 15" although actual measurements will vary. Just ask for a short shaft.

The Solo Skiff empty draws aprox 2" of water with engine tilted, and empty.  The skiff with a motor and a 200 pound person will draw aprox 3 inches. The running draft, that is the boat with motor down and on plane is between 12-14".

Yes the deck will drain right off. The back of the skiff is open for this reason.

The Solo Skiff is all one piece rotomolded polyethylene.

The Solo Skiff will plane with a 160 pound passenger and a 3.5 Hp Motor. The approximate speed will vary but around 10 mph.
Speed with a 6Hp approximately 15 mph. Speeds all depend on passenger weight, load, conditions, and prop. We always suggest to use the STANDARD prop that comes on the outboard from the manufacturer as this has been historically the best choice.

YES - Any boat can be capsized. Rolling over a Solo Skiff can happen.  In certain conditions as in being broad side or parallel to waves you could inadvertently roll the solo skiff.  You should always keep the skiff in calm conditions. Refer to the owner manual.

If your Solo Skiff retailer does not carry outboards we suggest you check out - ONLINE OUTBOARDS- They offer great service, pricing and free shipping!

If you plan on using a trolling motor - 30-40 Lb thrust is plenty.  30-36" shaft length. When you tilt the trolling motor you will have to pull up the power head (they slide) to be able to tilt past the grab bar in rear.

The Solo Skiff is designed for one person at a time and is only rated for one.

The answer depends on you and the way you use the Solo Skiff. Please see the article about powering your skiff.
